Mistakes that cost beginners the most
- Trading before understanding time decay. Buying far OTM options near expiry because they are cheap.
- Selling naked options. Collecting small premiums with unlimited risk.
- Sizing too big. Risking a large part of the account on one trade.
- Following tips. Without understanding why, you cannot manage the trade when it goes wrong.
- No exit plan. Decide the target, stop-loss and maximum loss before you enter.
The odds are real. SEBI found that about 9 out of 10 individual F&O traders lost money between FY22 and FY24. Learning properly is the cheapest insurance there is.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to learn options trading?
Most people need about three months of steady study and practice to understand options well enough to trade small - longer to trade with consistency. A structured course shortens the path by giving a fixed order and live feedback.
Can I learn options trading for free?
Yes. The Quantsapp classroom, video library, webinars and free tools (option chain, open interest, Greeks, margin calculator) cover the fundamentals at no cost.
Which is the best way to learn options trading in India?
Learn the concepts in order, connect each to live market data, and practise with small, defined-risk trades. A live program with Q&A and trade reviews, like the Pro Options Program, helps you avoid the common, expensive mistakes.
Do I need to know the stock market before learning options?
A basic idea of how shares and indices move helps, but the program and the classroom start from the basics of derivatives.
Is there an options trading course in Hindi?
Yes - the Pro Options Program is taught live in Hindi over 3 months, starting from scratch.
